Cesaria Evora at the Lonodn Jazz Festival
Capeverdean diva Cesaria Evora is back to perform in London this November.
The Southbank Centre announced a single date performance for the 18th November at the Royal Festival Hall. This is part of this year’s London Jazz Festival.
Another Portuguese speaking artist that will also perform at this year’s London Jazz Festival is Brazilian composer Hermeto Pascoal. The composer celebrated his 75th anniversary this year. He will go on stage at the Barbican on November 20th.
Past Lusophone artists at the LJF
The London Jazz Festival is a renowned event. Every year it brings some of the best world and Lusophone performers to the capital. Past Portuguese speaking performers have included Lura, Sara Tavares and Mayra Andrade.
Cesaria Evora is the only voice from Cabo Verde that reached international stardom with mainstream audience. As a result her performance is much anticipated. Cesaria Evora is know as the barefoot diva. This is because she sings barefoot in solidarity with the poorer.
